It all started with a spider bite…🕷️🕸️ In June 2025, Gerard unexpectedly began a medical journey that would last more than 16 months. Along the way, he faced multiple hospital stays, inpatient rehabilitation, a Life Flight to Richmond, and more than seven months at Tate Springs Health and Rehab. He has learned some pretty big medical terms along the way necrotizing fasciitis, osteomyelitis, and paraparesis and found himself surrounded by a team of doctors, nurses, therapists, and caregivers, and of course, his family, all of whom kept encouraging him and pushing him forward. Through the ups and downs, the progress and the setbacks, Gerard never stopped moving forward. His positive mindset, determination, and willingness to stay engaged in his recovery have been an inspiration to everyone around him. And now, after more than 16 months, Gerard is heading home! ❤️ He takes with him not only the progress he has made, but also the knowledge that he has made a difference in the lives of many others along the way. His calm presence, kindness, and encouraging personality have touched so many people during his journey. Gerard, we are so proud of you and wish you all the best as you begin this next chapter at home! 🏡❤️ ...
